DATABASE DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS

The "DATABASE" file is in Excel file format so that it can be opened in virtually any database or spreadsheet program. Patrons are using this for their own computer inventory entries, or for search tools when looking for items. Most any database or spreadsheet program will facilitate this...

A couple examples are:
Microsoft Excel... Open a blank spreadsheet page; find your source files, whereever you saved this download to, and then select under file types, "text files"; then "delimited" and then "comma" separation and finally "finish." Your database will now be in your Excel program and you can modify it as you wish.

Microsoft Access... Create a blank database; under file, "Get External Data/Import;" find your source files, whereever you saved this download to, and then select under file types, "Excel files"; then "delimited" and then "comma" separation and finally "finish." This will create a new table with the database in it and you can modify it as you wish.

If you don't have headers for the fields, they are: Record#, Sort field, Inventory#, Instrument type, Ensemble size, Title, Writer, Level, Price, Comments, Classification, and Publisher.

A couple of notes... the sort field is designed to sort by instrumentation and size of ensemble. If you select this whole field and then do an alpha sort, it will line up all the items in the database starting with flute solo, flute duet, etc. grouping all the publishers together by idiom and size. You would be able to that with any field.

You can now download and "SAVE" the DESPUB Excel format database
in your computer to build your own database or spreadsheet.
the file name will tell you the version of the data...
(Ex. database512 will tell you the version is year "5" or 2005, and month "12" or December)
